Peptide reconstitution calculator
Work out concentration, volume per aliquot and aliquots per vial from your vial size and diluent volume.
Your vial
The total quantity of lyophilised compound, as stated on the vial label.
The volume of bacteriostatic water used to reconstitute the vial.
The quantity of compound you need in each measured aliquot for your protocol.

How to use the calculator
Step 1
Enter the vial size
Use the total amount of lyophilised peptide stated on the label, such as 5 mg or 10 mg.
Step 2
Enter the diluent volume
Add the volume of bacteriostatic water used to reconstitute the vial. More diluent gives a lower concentration.
Step 3
Enter the target amount
Set the amount of compound you need per measured aliquot. The scale shows where that volume falls on a 1 mL graduation.
Calculator questions
How is peptide concentration calculated?
Divide the total amount of peptide in the vial by the volume of diluent added. A 10 mg vial reconstituted in 2 mL gives 5 mg per mL.
How much bacteriostatic water should be added to a vial?
That depends on the concentration your protocol needs. Adding more water gives a larger volume per aliquot, which is easier to measure accurately. Adding less gives a smaller, more concentrated volume. The calculator shows the result for any combination.
How do I convert millilitres to units?
On a standard U-100 scale, 100 units is 1 mL, so 10 units is 0.1 mL. Multiply the volume in millilitres by 100 to find the graduation mark.
How many aliquots does one vial provide?
Convert the vial amount to micrograms by multiplying milligrams by 1,000, then divide by the target amount per aliquot. Allow for some loss when handling.
How should reconstituted peptide be stored?
Storage depends on the compound and on whether it has been reconstituted. Follow the storage conditions given in the documentation supplied with your batch.
